While we all know that photographing weddings is my passion, my heart also lies in other places as well. Travel is another activity that I enjoy far too well and because of the world wide pandemonium has become a very few & far between type leisure. With that being said, I am lucky enough to be able to travel to some pretty gorgeous places. Places that reignite that fire in my soul and really bring out my creativity once more. As a photographer, while I love being able to capture every couples unique love story, it’s nice to step outside of that box every once in a while. Create beauty & magic no matter where you go.
One of my most memorable times is when I was in Charleston, South Carolina. This styled shoot that I was a part of was once of the most magical days I’ve gotten to photograph and I am so excited to be sharing it with you today. Charleston Styled Shoot at Governor Thomas Bennett House
The Governor Thomas Bennett House was built in 1825 - yeah I know… old! The structure and architecture of this home emulates those European trends and my jaw just about dropped when I walked in. Filled with many rooms, grand foyers, french style doors and more - it truly is a diamond in the rough in Charleston, South Carolina.
When me and the other vendors decided to host this styled shoot, we knew that we really wanted to pull from the gorgeous Southern greenery. The table settings, florals and decor we pulled together flowed so elegantly and really spoke to that southern charm that we all came to love. We were able to pull some amazing & beautiful models to participate on this day as well. As we finished outside, we made our way inside the Governor Thomas Bennett House to discover the wonders that lie within those four walls. We knew that we really wanted the decor and ambiance of the home to speak through the photos. The interior & decor is already so stunning, so we really didn’t have to do much except utilize what we were given. The warm rich tones, moldings across the walls & ceilings and of course our beautiful models made the most jaw-dropping images. It was almost as if the light was just bouncing off the walls and grazing everyone so perfectly - let me tell you the weather did not disappoint this day.
The Grand Foyer
One of the first things that you notice when you walk into the Governor Thomas Bennett House is the gorgeous foyer. You notice the gorgeous chandelier dangling from the ceiling, the intricate rugs & decor and the spiral staircase leading to the second floor. We decided that since this staircase was the center of attention to utilize its structure to make something beautiful. Thanks to INSERT VENDOR, we were able to use some gorgeous greenery/vines to wrap around the staircase - I know, I know… I died too. I then had our beautiful model, INSERT MODEL NAME, do what she does best. POSE! Her dress draping across the stairs so perfectly and it looked as if she was meant to be there. Well, because she was! I had such an amazing time organizing this styled shoot with all of the vendors & the curators of the Governor Thomas Bennett House. Our models and everyone who participated made this day a dream come true and it reminds me of why I love participating in such magic to begin with.
